Scientific Advisory Board

The scientific advisory board accompanies the PSY-DIVER project as an expert committee and ensures the methodological quality of the research through its expertise.

It consists of seven professors who, as experts, represent the various diversity dimensions of the project – from migration and gender to neurodiversity.

The central function of the Scientific Advisory Board lies in the continuous validation of project steps.

A key focus of the collaboration is also the joint development of practical recommendations for psychiatric-psychotherapeutic care. Through the advisory board's connections to the specialist departments of the German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology (DGPPN), a direct transfer of findings into the psychiatric professional community is ensured.

Members of the Advisory Board

Prof. Kersting has held the Chair of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy and served as Director of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at Leipzig University Hospital since 2010. Since 2012, she has also been the Medical and Scientific Director of the Department for Mental Health at Leipzig University Hospital. Together with PD Dr. Oelkers-Ax, Prof. Kersting heads the DGPPN Section for Women's and Men's Health and Family Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

Prof. Dr. Anette Kersting (she/her)

Prof. Dr. Metzger is the Medical Director of the Vitos Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Haina. He also holds a research and teaching appointment at the University Hospital Tübingen. One of his primary research areas is geriatric health services research. He serves as the Deputy Head of the DGPPN Section for Gerontopsychiatrie (Geriatric Psychiatry).

Prof. Dr. Florian Metzger (he/him)

Prof. Dr. Mundle heads the Health Center for Refugees (Gesundheitszentrum für Flüchtlinge – GZF) in Berlin. He also serves as the Deputy Head of the DGPPN Section for Sexual Orientation and Identities in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

Prof. Dr. Götz Mundle (he/him)

Prof. Dr. Reininghaus heads the Department of Public Mental Health at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) Mannheim and is a Visiting Professor at King’s College London. One of his primary research areas is the mental health of marginalized groups.

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Reininghaus (he/him)

Prof. Dr. Schouler-Ocak is Professor of Intercultural Psychiatry and Senior Consultant at the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic (PIA) of the Charité University Hospital at St. Hedwig Hospital Berlin. She also serves as the Deputy Head of the DGPPN Section for Intercultural Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

Prof. Dr. Meryem Schouler-Ocak (she/her)

Prof. Dr. Seidel worked at the Psychiatric and Neurological Clinic of the Charité Berlin from 1977 to 1991, most recently as a senior physician (Oberarzt). From 1991 to 2015, he served as Managing Physician, Managing Director, and Medical Director at the v. Bodelschwinghsche Stiftungen Bethel. For decades, he has been actively committed to providing needs-based healthcare for people with disabilities, particularly those with intellectual disabilities.
