Gender and Diversity-Related Factors in Psychiatric-Psychotherapeutic Hospital Care
Project Overview
The PSY-DIVER project addresses this issue by examining how patients can be treated in a more individualized, gender- and diversity-appropriate manner in the future. Data from a large psychiatric clinic network with approximately 35,000 inpatient and 70,000 outpatient cases annually are used for this purpose. The focus is specifically on differences in medication, applied therapies, and treatment success – depending on gender, origin, living situation, or other characteristics. Additionally, patients, relatives and close ones, and healthcare professionals are surveyed so that their experiences and needs are better understood. The goal is mental healthcare that considers all people.
The project uses a so-called mixed-methods design. This combines the analysis of large amounts of data with personal surveys. Artificial intelligence is used to extract additional information from digital medical records. At the same time, personal perspectives are incorporated through interviews and questionnaires. In a structured participation process, the results are then evaluated together with those affected and experts to develop recommendations for action.
